After the initial attacks of the day, at the twenty-fifth kilometer Linda Zanetti (Uno-X Mobility) launched a breakaway, soon joined by her compatriot Elise Chabbey (FDJ – SUEZ). Other riders joined the two Swiss athletes, creating a large group of about twenty riders including Soraya Paladin (Canyon//SRAM zondacrypto), Amber Kraak (FDJ-Suez), Yara Kastelijn (Fenix-Deceuninck), Mischa Bredewold, Femke Gerritse (SD Worx-Protime), Brodie Chapman (UAE Team ADQ), Jelena Eric, Liane Lippert (Movistar), Riejanne Markus, Lauretta Hanson (Lidl-Trek), Pfeiffer Georgi (Picnic PostNL), Letizia Paternoster, Silke Smulders (Liv-AlUla-Jayco), Lily Williams (Human Powered Health), Usoa Ostoloza (Laboral Kutxa-Fundacion Euskadi), Laura Molenaar (Volkerwessels) and Morgane Coston (Roland Le Dévoluy).

At the mountain checkpoint, Chabbey won the head-to-head with Smulders, managing to add more important points to her polka dot jersey, while the group of overall contenders crested with a 25" deficit from the breakaway group.
In the following technical descent, Cédrine Kerbaol (EF Education-Oatly) and Katarzyna Niewiadoma (CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto) launched a pursuit, making a selection and bringing the best riders back to Chabbey. Hardly had the group come together when the 23-year-old French rider Maeva Squiban (UAE Team ADQ) counterattacked. The athlete from Brest won the Mountain Grand Prix at Col du Chansert, passing with a 1'00" advantage over the group led by Chabbey.
With a steady pace, the Breton cyclist from UAE Team ADQ arrived at the Valcivières Intermediate Sprint with 1'20" taking 6" of bonus; behind her were Le Court and Katarzyna Niewiadoma with the yellow jersey, who gained 4" and the Polish rider 2".
