These days he is the protagonist at the Singapore Criterium and in a week he will also be at Saitama, but Paul Seixas does not feel the pressure of competition; for him this period in the East is somewhat like a vacation.
The twenty-year-old Frenchman made this clear when meeting the press at the event organized by A.S.O. "Obviously these two days are a bit intense but the rest is a bit like being on holiday. I'm taking the opportunity to visit places I don't know, everything is new to me here, really beautiful" he said.
The Decathlon CMA CGM Team athlete already has marked on his calendar the day he will start working towards the new season: "The real restart is set for November 20th, I still have a few days to rest, then I'll have to get back to focusing. In an instant the season will start again".
Paul Seixas is tied to the French team until the end of 2027 but, as has often happened in recent months, curiosity about his professional future is extremely high. "It's normal that people talk about my future and I think it's a good thing, it means there's interest in me and what I do. It doesn't weigh on me, it's part of the sport. But if I start talking about my future and contracts now I'll go crazy. I'm on vacation" declared the Lyon native.
Then, as reported by L'Equipe, he added with amusement: "Am I staying? Am I leaving? Nothing certain for now. Sometimes I come across social media posts or articles that make me laugh, things about my future that I don't know and I find out about myself".
But what should the teams that want Seixas offer him? "I don't know... they could even offer me the Moon. It's not easy to answer, I want to feel in sync with the team and the people. That's what's really important".
In his conversation with the press, the Frenchman also explained why he was critical of himself at the World Championships, saying he had failed. "I'm strict with myself, but by doing so I manage to get out all the frustration I feel and then move forward. If I lie to myself and say 'Yes, it happens to everyone...', actually it's worse, it blocks me. We shouldn't make excuses"
Looking back at the "highlights" of his season, Paul also admitted to letting his emotions run free when he won Il Lombardia: "I had just won a Monument and especially I was at the end of the season. There was no need to think about future objectives, I simply fully enjoyed the moment".
