Liv AlUla Jayco welcomes young Italian riders Alessia Zambelli and Elisa Bianchi to its Continental team: both athletes have signed a two-year agreement with the Australian team.
Zambelli, born in 2006 from Bergamo, made a name for herself wearing the Top Girls Fassa Bortolo jersey at this year's Giro d'Italia Women, where she finished in the top ten in the stages from Ravenna, Caorle and Brescello; she also achieved victory in the third stage of the Giro del Mediterraneo in Rosa.
Bianchi, an 18-year-old from Brescia coming from Biesse – Carrera, was one of the standout performers of the season among Juniors, shining on track and on road where she achieved around twenty top-ten finishes. Third in the tuttoBICI Oscar ranking, her palmares notably includes the European title in the mixed relay at Šenčur (with Ballan, Balliana, Rossignoli, Fedrizzi and Pezzo Rosola) and fifth place, also in Slovenia, in the road race won by Azzurra Ballan, not to mention third place in the Italian road championship won by Maria Acuti.
"For me, signing with Liv AlUla Jayco was a simple choice. The team is renowned for the excellent professional support it offers its athletes, providing young talents with numerous opportunities and the chance to gain experience. From the outside, it seems like a dynamic environment, and watching the team race, you can sense a very united and cohesive group. I hope to quickly build a rapport with the girls and the entire staff, so we can achieve great results together and enjoy many satisfactions as a team in the future," said Zambelli.
This is what Elisa Bianchi said instead: "I believe strongly in Liv AlUla Jayco's development project. From the beginning, it was one of the teams I most wanted to join. I admire the way they support young athletes, accompanying them on their growth journey without rushing and helping them fully express their potential. The number of riders who have managed to reach the WorldTour is a testament to the quality of their work. Furthermore, from the very first conversations, I had very positive feelings about the team. I'm curious to discover new working methods and to get to know more closely how a development team operates. I want to learn as much as possible and understand how much I can grow during the season".
In addition to the two Italian athletes, in 2027 the following will also race: Australians Sophie Marr, Alli Anderson, Sophia Sammons and Neve Parslow; Dutch riders Elise Uijen, Lois de Jong and Mirthe Mons, Irish rider Emma Jeffers and Canadian Anabelle Thomas.
"Looking ahead to the next season, we can proudly say that we have built a very balanced and competitive team. Our roster combines young riders of great talent and promising future with more experienced athletes, already ready to make a further leap in quality and stand out in the most important and challenging international competitions. This year we have seen our new athletes shine on the most prestigious stages, with outstanding performances at the Nations Cup, excellent results in prestigious races such as Liège-Bastogne-Liège and important achievements at the World Championships and European Championships. These results demonstrate that they all have the qualities necessary to assert themselves and grow in our sport. Through our development program, we will do everything possible to accompany and support them at every stage of their professional growth journey," said Eric van den Boom, Team Manager of the Continental team
