Like other teams before them, Red Bull BORA hansgrohe and EF Education Easypost have also decided to look within their own ranks to complete their 2027 roster by promoting two promising young talents from their development squads: Sebastian Putz and Gavin Sherry.
The first, born in 2003 from Wiener Neustadt, will defend the colors of the German World Tour squad starting in January after a two-year stint with the Rookies where, also taking part in various professional races, he has already had the opportunity to test himself and show what kind of engine he is equipped with.
"I learned so much during my two years with the Rookies. The varied race program I followed allowed me to prepare myself as best as possible for this new step" said the runner-up at the last Istrian Spring Tour after the announcement made by his team.
"It would be fantastic to win a race eventually, but I know I will enter the WorldTour as a domestique, and that is exactly the role I want to play: if I do my job well enough to satisfy both the riders and the management, then I will have achieved my goal" explained the determined twenty-three-year-old Austrian who, from today until 2028, will certainly have the opportunity to make a consistent contribution to his team.
This opportunity will likely be the same one that Sherry will have at EF, an American boy of just 22 years old who in a few months has gone from cycling at amateur level with the aim of recovering from an injury he suffered while running to competing with the best international prospects around the world wearing the kit of EF Education-Aevolo.
"I'm super excited. Joining this team is an incredible opportunity, especially when I think that just eight months ago I was a third-tier rider who was trying to find his way in this world" said the class of 2004 from West Hartford after signing his first professional contract.
"The last two months have been hectic, but they have opened my eyes to the world of professional cycling and what I need to work on. It seems to me that every race I competed in over the last six months was harder than the previous one. They were more technical, the level was higher, but it was really fun. I had a great time with EF Education-Aevolo and I can't wait to move to the next phase with EF Education-EasyPost. I'm incredibly excited" revealed a Sherry who, having recently moved to Girona, has no intention whatsoever of slowing down his upward trajectory over the next two years.
