The Giro del Veneto Woman on Wednesday was a special race for Alessia Vigilia: almost a home race. The 27-year-old from Uno-X Mobility, in fact, lives in Verona where PP Sport Events, organized by Filippo Pozzato, started the second edition of the race this year. Pushed by the support of some members of her fan club, Alessia launched herself into a breakaway, animating the race for several kilometers and demonstrating she had "good legs".

That good athletic condition allowed her to achieve the victory at the Giro dell'Emilia Women, arriving solo with arms raised at San Luca. «Winning is always thrilling, but in Bologna it was something truly unique. I knew I was in good shape, I raced with the necessary serenity, the team believed in me, supported me, and in the end, with the help of my teammates, we managed to execute exactly the plan we had studied before the race» Vigilia tells tuttobiciweb.

Looking back to Saturday, October 3rd, the South Tyrolean athlete adds: «I also need to thank those who shared the joy of that result with me. On the course there were some of my relatives and friends who cheered me on and supported me. It was a beautiful day also thanks to them».

After celebrating the Bologna success, Vigilia headed to Slovenia where she participated in the time trial events at the European Championships. «In that case too there was no shortage of emotions and adrenaline – the Italian athlete tells us – wearing the National team colors is always an honor, doing it in the mixed relay alongside four world champions was almost incredible».

The 1999-born athlete continues her account expressing satisfaction with the silver medal won, but in her analysis she doesn't hide a slight regret for the gold that slipped away, also noting how the climb on the course was very demanding. «Monica Trinca Colonel did her best but not feeling great, she dropped on the climb. With just the two of us left, we had to manage ourselves, it wasn't easy because the climb isn't the terrain where I can express myself best. I'm still happy to have contributed to winning a medal by giving my all alongside a great champion like Elisa» Alessia states.

After standing on the second step of the podium in the relay with Mattia Cattaneo, Matteo Sobrero, Marco Frigo, Elisa Longo Borghini and Monica Trinca Colonel, Alessia Vigilia launched herself from the starting ramp of the individual time trial. «It wasn't planned, but when they asked me if I wanted to replace Monica I accepted. I'm sorry I wasn't able to perform as I would have liked, unfortunately the relay the day before left me with some fatigue in my legs» the native of Bolzano explains to us.

Vigilia, in her first year with Uno-X Mobility, has lived through a very demanding season that saw her racing in official events for 49 days. She made her debut in mid-January at the Tour Down Under with a long solo breakaway, and will close her 2026 sporting season with two time trial commitments: the Chrono des Nations – in which she finished second behind Ellen van Dijk in 2025 – and the Italian Time Trial Championships scheduled for October 24th in Piasco, Piedmont. «It's been a long and demanding season of which I'm very satisfied. I participated in many important races, in all three Grand Tours (all completed, ed. note). Then after the Tour I slowed down a bit and prepared at home for this end of season where I've achieved important satisfactions. The balance is more than positive», Alessia emphasizes with pride.

In reliving the sporting year coming to an end, the sprinter praises the team that welcomed her at the beginning of 2026: «This year I've experienced several changes and learned many new things. I'm very grateful to the entire Uno-X Mobility team and happy to wear this jersey. I found a beautiful environment. What particularly struck me was the group. The women's and men's formations work "in unison". The staff works in both formations for the benefit of the entire team. There are no distinctions between the men's and women's formations and I believe this is one of the team's strengths» she concludes.

Now on Alessia Vigilia's agenda are the last two competitive appointments and then a well-deserved rest before starting to plan for 2027.
