Today's stage is a demanding one, a true "wall stage" characterized by a succession of increasingly shorter and increasingly steep climbs. The race starts from the sea heading inland and reaches with more or less pronounced ups and downs the Sanctuary of San Gabriele at Isola del Gran Sasso. It turns north to climb Torricella Sicura and Campli before entering a 29.9 km circuit with two consecutive climbs right before the finish at Colonnella and Controguerra.
Final kilometers with the wall featuring double-digit gradients at Colonnella and the final climb at around 5% that leads to the finish line: an explosive finale, a race still wide open with a thousand possible outcomes.
