The professional cycling transfer market officially opened on August 1st and, as every summer, alongside the first official announcements comes an even greater quantity of rumors. Teams work behind the scenes, agents seek the best arrangements and riders begin to decide what their future will be from 2027. This year, however, the ferment seems particularly intense and it is necessary to try to understand how the various movements are unfolding.

Among the most important names we've seen in recent days is that of Primoz Roglic, surprisingly linked to Lotto Intermarchè. The news, launched in recent days by HLN, immediately ignited the transfer market, although at the moment there is still no official agreement. The Slovenian could therefore change teams, but his destination remains to be determined.

One of the most active teams is Alpecin-Premier Tech, which has already officially announced three new sprinters: Casper van Uden, Madis Mihkels and Ivan Garcia Cortina. The strengthening campaign seems to be linked mainly to the possible departure of Kaden Groves. The Australian, according to journalist Daniel Benson's reports, could move to Tudor, thus freeing up an important spot in the sprinters' department.

The Lotto Intermarchè has also begun to make moves. So far the Belgian team has promoted three young riders, Milan Donie, Kamiel Eeman and Victor Vaneeckhoutte, but is also working on some more experienced riders. Juan Sebastian Molano, Stan Dewulf and Mauri Vansevenant are among the names linked to the team, which must deal with the possible departures of Lennert Van Eetvelt and Arnaud De Lie. In addition to the two, contracts are expiring for Jasper De Buyst, Milan Menten, Lionel Taminiaux, Cédric Beullens, Luca Van Boven, Sébastien Grignard and Robin Orins.

Liam Slock is also looking for a team. The winner of the Gippingen GP, according to Daniel Benson, could be in the sights of Bahrain Victorious.

Among the transfers already announced are Santiago Buitrago to NSN, a team in which Jens Verbrugghe will turn professional in 2027, Mikel Landa to Euskaltel-Euskadi and Valentin Madouas and Michiel Coppens to Cofidis.

But it is above all Pinarello Q36.5 that is making headlines. After bringing Tom Pidcock into its team, the second division team is ready to add two more important names: Mauro Schmid, winner of a stage at the Tour de France, and sprinter Pavel Bittner.

And the Q36.5 transfer market may not be over yet. Tom Crabbe, a young Belgian talent from Flanders-Baloise, destined to dissolve, would be close to signing, as would Andrew August leaving Netcompany Ineos. Primoz Roglic has also been linked to the team by Daniel Benson, before the surprising Lotto Intermarchè hypothesis took shape.

One of the most interesting deals concerns Decathlon CMA CGM. The French team wants to build a group around Paul Seixas capable of supporting him in major stage races and has been working for months to strengthen its roster.

Jordan Jegat was initially one of the main targets, but according to L'Équipe the Frenchman should now choose Lidl-Trek. The German team is preparing a real strengthening campaign and has targeted, among others, Felix Gall, Gregor Muhlberger, Igor Arrieta and Jordi Meeus.

Decathlon CMA CGM, however, did not sit idle. According to various reports, it has made significant progress in bringing to France Ben O'Connor (his would be a return), Pavel Sivakov and Laurens De Plus. A quality group to support Seixas in the coming seasons and transform the French talent into one of the great protagonists of stage races.

The Red Bull – Bora hansgrohe is also working to build an increasingly competitive team around Remco Evenepoel. To support the Belgian champion, two German riders could arrive, Georg Steinhauser and Georg Zimmermann, both considered possible reinforcements for the mountains and major stage races. On the departures front, Alexandr Vlasov could leave the team and return to XDS Astana, according to reports from Gazzetta dello Sport.

The UAE Emirates-XRG, on the other hand, is maintaining a decidedly lower profile. Tadej Pogacar's team does not seem intent on revolutionizing its roster, but could still add a quality rider like Marco Frigo.

One of the most curious bets could come from Visma | Lease a Bike. The Dutch team would be ready to revive the career of Fabio Jakobsen, one of the most important sprinters in European cycling in recent years, who is free after mutually terminating his contract with Picnic PostNL.

The Netcompany Ineos is also called upon to intervene in the transfer market. The arrival of Netcompany has increased the British team's budget by approximately 20 million euros per year, but the problem remains finding top-level riders available. Egan Bernal and Axandre Laurance should extend their respective contracts, while Victor Langellotti has already left the team to join XDS Astana. For the British team, the names circulating are Markel Beloki, Harold Tejada, Clément Champoussin, Joe Blackmore and Michael Valgren. The transfer market is not only about big names. Teams are fighting above all to secure the talents of the future.

Ineos has had its eyes on Benjamin Noval junior for some time, son of former professional Benjamin Noval, a rider who had also raced alongside Lance Armstrong. The young Spaniard, who will turn 18 on October 7th, is considered one of the most interesting talents of his generation. Noval has dominated in youth categories, showing qualities especially in climbing, but also in time trials and cyclocross. In 2027 he will turn professional with a two-year contract.

Movistar has instead secured Javier Cubillas until 2029, while Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe has put Lorenzo Finn under contract until 2028, Under 23 world champion in Kigali and this year's Giro Next Gen winner.

The Picnic PostNL promotes and puts under contract until 2028 Milan De Ceuster and Matisse Van Kerckhove. Niels Driesen, on the other hand, would be destined for Pinarello Q36.5, which would have beaten out the competition from Lotto Intermarchè.

The transfer market, however, is also a race against time for those riders who have not yet found a place for 2027. Among the Belgians stands out the name of national champion Rune Herregodts, destined to leave UAE Emirates-XRG. The rider has explained that he has received several offers and is looking for a freer role, which would allow him to race more for himself.

In the WorldTour, Simon Dehairs, Gianluca Pollefliet, Tom Van Asbroeck and Floris Van Tricht still need to find a place. And it's not just Belgian riders waiting. Kasper Asgreen, Magnus Sheffield, Tao Geoghegan Hart, Corbin Strong, Maximilian Schachmann and Andreas Kron are among the most interesting names with expiring contracts.

Finally, weighing on the market is a question that could cause a real domino effect: the future of TotalEnergies. The French team has not yet announced a sponsor for 2027 and is therefore in an extremely delicate situation. The closest precedent is that of Arkea-B&B Hotels, which faced a similar situation twelve months ago.

If TotalEnergies fails to find a solution, numerous riders could suddenly find themselves on the transfer market. And this could radically change the balance of negotiations already underway.
