Kasia Niewiadoma chose the most prestigious stage to sign one of the most beautiful achievements of her career. On Mont Ventoux, in the most anticipated stage of the Tour de France Femmes, the Polish rider attacked when ten kilometers remained to the finish line, resisted the comeback of her rivals, and conquered the stage victory and the yellow jersey. Before the start, she was third in the general classification, 1'17" behind Marlen Reusser. Now she is the woman to beat.

A day built with patience, courage, and precise conviction. Niewiadoma knew that the decisive part would come on the final slopes of Ventoux and waited for the right moment to make the difference. The attack came ten kilometers from the finish and, from that moment on, the Polish rider transformed the escape into a solitary feat.

Behind her, Demi Vollering and Marlen Reusser tried to organize the chase, but the winner gave no more ground. Niewiadoma pedaled toward the finish line with the awareness that this could be the day capable of completely changing her Tour. And that's exactly what happened. «It's difficult to describe what I'm feeling right now, I'm speechless. I feel so much gratitude. This victory is for all the people who supported me», she said after crossing the finish line, still overwhelmed by fatigue and emotion.

Then came the most touching moment of the day. When the road began to climb toward Ventoux, Niewiadoma recognized two special faces in the crowd: her parents, who had arrived by surprise to witness her achievement. «When we started the climb toward Mont Ventoux, I saw my parents standing at the roadside. They had come to see me by surprise. I saw that my father was crying and at that moment I just wanted to make them proud».

Words that tell much more than a victory. Because behind the new yellow jersey lies a career built through sacrifice, disappointment, attempts, and a continuous search for that success that has finally arrived in the most spectacular way possible.

«This victory is for my family, my friends, my team, my husband Taylor, my coach. Everyone knows how much effort I put into this victory. They were always there for me, ready to listen to my complaints».

Niewiadoma had a very clear plan. There was no need to attack too early: she needed to arrive at the front at the right moment and exploit the wind in the final part of the climb.

«Today I just had to reach Chalet Reynard alone, six kilometers from the summit. With the wind blowing, I knew that from there on it would be very difficult for those chasing me to catch up».

The Polish rider executed the plan perfectly. Kilometer after kilometer, the advantage became increasingly valuable, while behind her the big favorites controlled each other and tried to figure out who should take the initiative.

In the end, no one managed to stop her. And it was precisely Ventoux, a climb that Niewiadoma knows and has tackled even away from competitions, that gave her a special feeling.

«I don't want to win just for the sake of winning; I do it for this wonderful sensation. I've been here before with friends, we tackled the climb three times, we had fun and the emotion of being here at the top is simply fantastic».

This is, perhaps, the deepest meaning of her day: rediscovering the joy of cycling. «From that moment on, I wanted to experience that sensation again: the joy of pedaling, feeling like a child again and loving every single pedal stroke».

Today those pedal strokes took her all the way to the yellow jersey of the Tour de France Femmes. And on Ventoux, in front of her parents, Kasia Niewiadoma wrote an unforgettable page in her career.
