The 2026 Tour de France Femmes is not starting in the best way for UAE Team L'IMAD. Elisa Longo Borghini and Paula Blasi will not be able to count on Brodie Chapman: the experienced Australian athlete will not be at the start today from Aigle because she is feverish.
The Emirati team issued a statement explaining that Chapman "began to feel unwell already during yesterday's opening stage and during the night developed a fever, probably due to an abdominal inflammation".
Brodie will now return home and observe a period of rest to recover.
The Tour de France Femmes has unfortunately already come to an end for Christina Schweinberger: the Austrian time trial champion, involved in one of yesterday's many crashes, suffered a fractured wrist and will therefore not be able to start today alongside her Fenix-Premier Tech teammates.
Yesterday a crash also forced Laura Tomasi to withdraw. As reported in the medical statements issued yesterday evening by the organizers, the Veneto athlete from Uno X after the crash "was subjected to the protocol for suspected concussion which initially came back normal.
