After the podiums achieved at the Vuelta España Femenina and the Giro d'Italia Women, Anna van der Breggen will aim for the general classification at the Tour de France Femmes as well. The Dutch rider born in 1990 will be the captain of SD Worx Protime and will have teammates ready to support her in achieving the objective.
One of Van der Breggen's main "shoulders" will be Nienke Vinke, who last year won the young riders' classification in the French race. After finishing thirteenth at the Vuelta, Vinke prepared for the French appointment by racing the Tour de Suisse and the Dutch national championships, finishing fifth in the time trial.
The contribution of Valentina Cavallar will also be fundamental for the Dutch team: after twelfth place at the Vuelta and ninth place achieved at the "pink race", the Viennese rider born in 2001 is called upon for another important test. Speaking about her, sports director Denny Stam said: «Valentina's selection is a direct consequence of her continuous improvement».
General classification but not only that, in this case too Stam was clear: «We have selected a group of athletes that can guarantee us a top-5 finish in the final standings but also stage victories».
So for the sprints, the undisputed leader will be Lorena Wiebes. The winner of the points classification at the 2025 Tour, she arrives at the French appointment after a string of successes achieved at the Tour de Pologne. «She is the best sprinter in the world and holds the record for stage victories in the race. Not many other words are needed to explain Lorena's selection in the team» stated Stam.
Mischa Bredewold and Lotte Kopecky will be able to seize personal opportunities in turn by going on the attack or attempting moves in the final that will certainly force opponents to never let their guard down. Explaining in particular the role in the team of the Belgian two-time world champion, Stam declared: «Lotte arrives at the Tour de France Femmes in good form, she will have no pressure and will be able to race freely. The hope is that she can win a stage».
Completing the SD Worx Protime lineup for the Tour de France will be Elena Cecchini. At her third participation in the race across the Alps, the Friuli-born rider needs no lengthy introduction, the words of coach Danny Stam are sufficient: «You cannot give up an athlete like Elena. She makes the right decisions at the right moment, keeps the team united, intervenes when necessary and always works for the good of the team».
