The Tour de France arrives in Paris, comes back home, but bows to the wildfire emergency that is shaking the country and in particular the Gironde region: the final stage of the Grande Boucle is indeed shortened with the elimination of the entire suburban section. The stage therefore becomes Paris-Paris and will measure only 89 kilometers compared to the 133 originally planned.

The city circuit alone will allow for the use of fewer law enforcement personnel, and the working hours of staff will also be reduced. Starting today, 1,500 military personnel will be deployed in the Gironde to face an emergency in the face of which the Tour de France can and must take a step back. Obviously the cycling race, although it is the most important in the world, can settle for a shortened stage (by less than 40 kilometers, not 200) and still deliver the Parisian spectacle of a parade that, in the final laps, will transform into a great cycling show.

The team presentation will take place as planned in Thoiry, then the riders will reach the Champs-Élysées circuit by bus. And it is precisely on this circuit that they will face two additional laps compared to the original schedule before tackling the three laps on the Butte de Montmartre.
