Alpe d'Huez, act one. The nineteenth stage of the Tour de France features the finish on one of France's most famous climbs, which will be tackled again tomorrow at the end of a truly epic mountain stage.

But let's focus on today with the Gap - L'Alpe d'Huez, a 127.9 km stage with 4 categorized climbs, uphill finish and 3,500 meters of elevation gain.

A short stage with an uphill start: right from the gun, from km zero the Col Bayard is tackled, a 2nd category climb, 4.8 km at 7.2% with the summit at km 4.8. Following the descent comes the Col du Noyer with the categorized climb at km 25.2, 1st category, 7.2 km at 8.5%. On these two climbs it's likely that a breakaway of riders outside the general classification will form again today, while the main contenders will enter the scene in the finale.

The third categorized climb is the Col d'Ornon with the summit at km 99.2, a 2nd category climb measuring 5.4 km at 6.4%. Finally we reach Alpe d'Huez, a Hors Categorie climb with its 21 hairpin bends, a 13.7 km climb at 8.1%: this is one of the most prestigious finishes of the entire race and the question can only be one: will Pogacar put on a show or will someone try to put him in difficulty?
