The Tour turns its back on the Pyrenees, which yesterday provided the backdrop for yet another masterpiece by Tadej Pogacar, who returned to the yellow jersey, and prepares to cross the magnificent Forêt des Landes, the largest artificial forest in Western Europe, created in the nineteenth century by reclaiming sandy and sparsely vegetated land.
Long straight roads, just one small climb - the Côte de Béguey, category 4, at 137.3 km, 1.2 km at 4.4% - and a predictable battle between the day's attackers and the sprinters' teams who won't want to miss a precious opportunity. At Place des Quinconces there will be a sprint at extremely high speed: Kooij won the first sprint, today he will race for a repeat while all the others will be hunting for revenge.
