It hasn't happened since 1992 that the Tour has had to wait until the fifth stage to deliver the first bunch sprint. And so here we have the Lannemezan - Pau, 158.3 km and 1,600 metres of elevation gain, in other words a stage that the sprinters' teams will certainly not let slip away.

A stage that features only one categorized climb, the Côte de Baleix of 3rd category, at km 132.7, a one-kilometre climb at 8.8%. There will certainly be those who attempt to attack, but the sprinters and their teams will keep a close watch and we can expect a major showdown between Merlier, Philipsen, Girmay, Pedersen in the green jersey, Kooij, Kanter, Bittner and the list goes on.
