Among the international organizations that will take part in the 29th edition of the Fiorenzuola International Grand Prix – 6 Days of the White Roses from July 20-25, there will also be Star Track Cycling, one of the most important track cycling projects in North America.
Founded in 2004 at the Kissena Velodrome in New York, Star Track is a completely free youth program that introduces track cycling to boys and girls aged 8 to 16, with particular attention to young people from the city's most disadvantaged neighborhoods. Over more than twenty years of activity, it has engaged thousands of young athletes, won more than 50 U.S. national titles, and repeatedly received recognition as a USA Cycling Center of Excellence and Junior Club of the Year.
In 2022, the project took a further step forward with the creation of the Star Track UCI Pro Team, the first new UCI track trade team in over a decade, created to offer the best North American athletes a pathway to international competition. In just a few years, its riders have participated in the World Championships, the UCI Track Champions League, and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
At the Fiorenzuola International Grand Prix, Star Track Cycling will be represented in the men's competition by American Grant Koontz (who competed in the Omnium at Paris 2024, pictured). The women's team will consist of Americans Mia Deye and Stephanie Lawrence, Canadian Justine Thomas, and British rider Dannielle Watkinson, confirming the team's international vocation and the prestige of the Fiorenzuola event.
