It is a very rolling course, where curves are not lacking, especially from the halfway point onwards. And it is a rather particular course for a time trial. The start is from Vicoforte, next to the Sanctuary: in the first 4.5 km the road tends to climb, while the next 7 km are downhill. Attention must be paid to two rather challenging curves, one at km 4.7 and another at km 5.4.
From km 11 to km 11.7 the road is very winding; once this section is completed, you reach the locality of Bastia Mondovì. From here onwards, for about 10 km, you find the section most favorable to time trial specialists. At the end of this segment you start climbing again for about 3.8 km; at the beginning of the climb you pass through Farigliano.
Once the summit is reached, you begin descending for about 7.7 km towards Dogliani, where you pass through, and right in the final part of the descent the course presents some rather technical curves. At km 32.2 you reach Monchiero; after passing through the town, at km 32.7 you turn sharply to the right and a new 5 km climb begins. Once you crest the hill, only 2.8 km of racing remain, all on a slight descent.
There are twenty riders at the start, the first to depart is elite rider Manuel Dovesi of Goodshop Team at 14:00, the last will be Filippo Ganna: the Piedmontese rider from Netcompany Ineos, the defending champion, will start at 14:36.
