Paula Blasi's magical moment continues. The talented young Spanish athlete from UAE Team ADQ, after conquering the general classification of the Vuelta España Femenina, returned to victory today in the Durango-Durango, leaving behind Évita Muzic of FDJ United – SUEZ and Alice Towers of EF Education-Oatly, who crossed the finish line about twenty seconds behind.
A success, the seventh of her young career, which Blasi built by distancing her rivals in the final kilometers of the race.
An initial selection had occurred 10 kilometers from the finish, on an uphill stretch, when Riejanne Markus (Lidl – Trek), Léa Curinier (FDJ United – SUEZ), Évita Muzic (FDJ United – SUEZ), Magdeleine Vallieres (EF Education-Oatly) and Paula Blasi (UAE Team ADQ) forced the pace. On the hairpin turns of the subsequent descent, the Canadian world champion slipped and was unable to recover ground.
Blasi, on the other hand, managed to avoid the crash and shortly after accelerated, taking a solo lead.
