What does Jonas Vingegaard see beyond the finish line at Corno alle Scale? From that special starting gate towards the next time trial, the Danish rider sees the pink jersey, no offense to Afonso Eulalio, who managed to strenuously defend the symbol of leadership in the face of the ski lifts that witnessed Alberto Tomba's early days on the snow. That Vingegaard didn't overdo it yesterday is confirmed by the Gazzetta — "He opened the throttle (slightly) 800 meters from the finish line after surgically exploiting his Visma-Lease a Bike team's work": which also falls to them to certify the negative omens surrounding Pellizzari, headlining Giulio goes into crisis and suffers: "a grueling day". A quote from the Marche rider, described after crossing the finish line swaying (source Corriere): "doctor and masseur help him lean against a barrier where he remains motionless for two minutes".
Meanwhile, Cosimo Cito on Repubblica starts with an effective metaphor (Giulio flying too close to the sun on the Blockhaus), before recalling the words of the Red Bull leaders, authors of a partial mea culpa regarding the strategy adopted by Pellizzari on the Majella. That 1100-meter attack to follow Vingegaard? "Better than regretting it for the rest of your life" — the laconic and understandable consideration. And the Dane? He sees pink, according to Pier Augusto Stagi on Il Giornale, generous with details about the mission accomplished by the man in blue. For now. "I knew it was a finish line within my reach — explained the Dane who is now 2'24" behind the pink jersey —. I'm happy for my team, which controlled every situation very well, then I finalized my work perfectly". Things went differently in the Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe camp, with Tuttosport (Alessandro Brambilla) also highlighting the 50" lost by Hindley compared to Vingegaard. There, just a stone's throw from the ski lifts.

VINGEGAARD, AND TWO...
So it's also too easy. After a week of racing, Jonas Vingegaard, master of the Giro since the eve of the race, has already won both mountain-finish stages, managing his strength with a delicate balance. He is certainly the strongest, but we have the impression that he races too much with his head and too little with his heart. He gathers so much while giving the minimum. Yesterday he opened the throttle (slightly) 800 meters from the finish line after surgically exploiting his Visma-Lease a Bike team's work (clearly the strongest team on climbs) and also that of Felix Gall, the Austrian who at least apparently is the only potential rival in this 2026 Giro edition. Unfortunately, yesterday, on the certainly not impossible slopes towards Corno alle Scale, Giulio Pellizzari also cracked. (Ciro Scogamiglio)

VINGEGAARD, PERFECT DOUBLE. POWERFUL ATTACK AND PELLIZZARI GOES INTO CRISIS
He took a slap on Friday on the Blockhaus, another on Saturday on the "walls" of Fermo and a blow yesterday on the Apennine ridge. Giulio Pellizzari crosses the finish line of the ninth stage of the Giro d'Italia swaying on his bike, doctor and masseur help him lean against a barrier where he remains motionless for two minutes. He doesn't lift his head from the handlebars, doesn't utter a word until his team manages to slip a heavy jacket on him and push him towards the descent to the buses. (Marco Bonarrigo)

VINGEGAARD DELIVERS ANOTHER BLOW, PELLIZZARI IN CRISIS, NOW THE TIME TRIAL
Having come very close to the sun on the Blockhaus, Giulio Pellizzari is slowly dissolving. The slide began in Abruzzo with that beautiful and senseless 1100-meter attack against Vingegaard, "we didn't stop him and maybe we made a mistake but he would have regretted it for the rest of his life" said the Red Bull leaders yesterday. It continued on the wall of Fermo (2" lost). At Corno alle Scale the blow was severe. (Cosimo Cito)

VINGEGAARD TAKES THE SKI LIFT AND SEES MORE AND MORE PINK
On the slopes that gave birth to Alberto Tomba's skiing career, Jonas Vingegaard takes the ski lift and climbs lightly. He doesn't have to torment himself to win the second stage in this Giro. He doesn't have to get agitated to make up time on the Portuguese Eulalio — still in pink — who concedes him about forty seconds, he just has to think about managing his strength, because the jersey is there and he'll take it when the moment comes. "I knew it was a finish line within my reach — explained the Dane who is now 2'24" behind the pink jersey —. I'm happy for my team, which controlled every situation very well, then I finalized my work perfectly". (Pier Augusto Stagi)

VINGEGAARD GAINS LITTLE MARGIN
Only skis and snow on the slopes were missing to truly mistake Mathys Rondel for a weekend skier yesterday, in the thick forest of Corno alle Scale. The finish line of the ninth stage of the Giro d'Italia was just steps away from the Tomba 2 slope, one of two slopes named after "La Bomba", Alberto Tomba, the three-time Olympic alpine skiing champion, who traced his first turns right in this small Apennine locality. CICCONE TRIES AND GALL STAYS IN TOW
Everyone on alert for Jonas Vingegaard. On Corno alle Scale the Danish Visma-Lease a Bike rider gave yet another display of class. Exactly as on Friday on the Blockhaus, yesterday Vingegaard, 29 years old, won the stage dropping everyone without arriving exhausted at the finish line. At the end of the ninth stage he distanced Felix Gall by 12", who is certainly his main rival for the final victory. Unfortunately the Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe pair is losing ground: Jai Hindley finished 50" behind Jonas, Giulio Pellizzari forced to race on the defensive from the penultimate climb of the day due to stomach problems arrived 1'28" back. The Portuguese Afonso Eulalio, 24 years old, captain of Bahrain-Victorious, is smiling, as on Tuesday he will contest the time trial in the pink jersey. (Alessandro Brambilla)

VINGEGAARD'S DOUBLE
Second mountain-finish stage and the outcome doesn't change. Jonas Vingegaard still dictates the law at the Giro d'Italia as already happened on Friday at the Blockhaus and flew solo 900 meters from the finish line, with the decisive attack that also bent Felix Gall's strenuous resistance. Kiss to the family photo glued to his handlebars complete with a blue ribbon to celebrate the best climber's jersey and then another kiss to the wedding ring shown to the sky for his beloved Trine. Eleventh victory in the Grand Tours and a show of strength by the entire Team Visma-Lease a Bike, given the third place of young Davide Piganzoli (arrived this year). (Alberto Dolfin)
