An entire territory that sets itself in motion, between sea and hills: the Riccione Granfondo returns on May 3rd as the central event of the Riccione Cycling Fest, attracting hundreds of cyclists in a context that combines organization, established routes and strong territorial identity.
The organization is managed by G.S. Eurobike Riccione, headed by president Serenella Ammaturo, with Valeriano Pesaresi as general coordinator, in synergy with the Bicifestival by Mario Giorgio and Libera Bici by Marco Conti, under the ACSI umbrella and with the patronage of the Municipality. The start is from Piazzale Roma, with an initial section at controlled pace until Via Veneto: the sea behind, central avenues and spectators along the route accompanying cyclists in the first kilometers, before the official start of the competition.
The route develops towards the hinterland crossing Coriano and venturing into the Republic of San Marino with a passage through Montegiardino. The return occurs through Montegrimano Terme, Mercatino Conca and Montefiore Conca, along a route that alternates manageable climbs with more challenging sections, set in a continuous hilly context that represents one of the distinctive elements of the event.
The central technical element is the time trial climb of the "Pieggia" at Mondaino, a timed segment that impacts the standings and introduces a competitive variable within the race. The passage through the historic center, with Mondaino's circular square, represents one of the most characteristic points of the route. Confirmed is the collaboration with local associative organizations, particularly Tavoleto and Mondaino, as well as the involvement of Pro Loco associations and volunteers along the route.
Three starting grids are planned: VIP, Merit, and Second Grid. The finish is set at Castello degli Agolanti, a choice that recalls the origins of the event: the Granfondo, born in 1999 from an idea by Valeriano Pesaresi, indeed had in its early editions this area as one of its reference points, so much so that it was identified for a period with the name "Fondo degli Agolanti", testifying to the historical connection with this symbolic place. Regarding safety and traffic management, the involvement of the Local Police of Riccione, Misano Adriatico and Coriano is planned, along with operational support in the Val Conca area. Coordination with law enforcement, together with the work of volunteers and local associations, represents a fundamental element for the proper conduct of the event. At the end of the race, participants will be able to use the refreshment area set up at Piazzale Ceccarini, for the use of a voucher for a "street food party".
Anticipating the Granfondo, on Saturday, May 2nd, the "Perla Verde Gravel" will take place, with two routes of 59 and 79 kilometers developed mainly on gravel roads and unpaved sections. The routes have been designed to enhance the territory directly, crossing rural areas, secondary roads and natural segments, with an alternation of surfaces that makes the experience varied and accessible, maintaining a non-extreme but technically interesting approach. A proposal that complements the road race and expands the event's offering, confirming the vocation to tell the story of the territory through cycling, since its origins.
