This is not an April Fools' joke, since we're still in March and the contract was reportedly signed last Wednesday: Domenico Pozzovivo is back in the peloton and he won't be doing it in an exhibition race, but with a number on his back and a professional cyclist's contract. His retirement came a year and a half ago, at the end of 2024 with the Giro di Lombardia, after a long and distinguished career in the top tier that began in 2005. The Lucanian rider boasts 13 victories among the professionals and holds the record, shared with Vladimiro Panizza, of 18 participations in the Giro d'Italia (finishing fifth in 2014 and 2018). The agreement appears to have been reached, everything is settled and finalized with Serge Parsani's team, Solution Tech NIPPO Rali, an Italian professional squad. When will the "road baptism" take place? It also depends on the thesis that seems to be scheduled in Rome, in person, precisely on the day of the Tour of The Alps start on April 20th. However, it's not certain that Pozzovivo will be able to move it up or find a way to discuss it: perhaps during a race, or thereabouts.
