The 2026 edition of the Tour de Taiwan concluded with the third group sprint in five days of racing. This time, contrary to what happened in the other two sprints that had involved the entire peloton, it was not Dusan Rajovic (today 4th) who took home the victory, but rather German Lucas Carstensen who, wearing the colors of Kinan Racing Team, preceded Australian Liam Walsh of CCACHE x BODYWRAP (second as in the opening stage) and Japanese Yoshiki Terada of Team UKYO.
The overall classification was won by Matys Grisel (Lotto-Intermarchè) who, effectively controlling the situation over the 153.7 kilometers that took the caravan from Luye Township Office to Liyu Lake Visitor Center, climbed to the top of the podium with a 4-second margin over his teammate Matthew Fox and 5 seconds over Spanish rider Jordi Lopez (Euskaltel-Euskadi).
The best Italian in the standings turned out to be Lorenzo Quartucci (Burgos Burpellet BH) who, like last year, managed to finish the short Asian race in the top ten, placing ninth overall.
"I'm happy to have finished in the top ten of this Tour de Taiwan. In 2025 I finished fifth, this year perhaps I lacked those stages with a few more climbs that could have favored me and the course, unfortunately for me, was quite flat. We still tried to give our all until the end, with the team always working well and proving ready to help me" said the Tuscan rider after crossing the finish line in tenth position in the stage that brought the curtain down on the Taiwanese race, an event that saw Lotto-Intermarchè dominate with the two partial victories achieved and the one-two in the overall classification.
As for the Italian colors, in addition to Quartucci's placements, also worth noting positively is the consistency in the sprint of Andrea D'Amato (Team UKYO), who managed to finish third twice, fourth once and ninth once in the various stages suited to his characteristics.
