Today marks the sixth stage of Paris-Nice, Barbentane-Apt, 179 kilometers with 2,100 meters of elevation gain, concentrated mainly in the second half of the route. Apart from a short climb right at the start (the côte de Saint Rémy de Provence, 2.5 km at 5%), the first 100 kilometers are almost completely flat.
Then with the côte de Bonnieux, 2.5 km at 4.6%, the undulations begin. The longest climb is the côte de l'Aire Deï Masco, 7.1 kilometers at 4.4%: from the summit 33 kilometers to the finish. More ups and downs, another short climb of 2.7 km at 5.3% where at the top there is the sprint with time bonuses (6", 4" and 2") and then you reach the foot of the final challenge: the côte de Saignon, 4 kilometers at 5%, with the final 650 meters at 7.3%. You pass through the village at the top of the hill and from this point there are 4.5 kilometers to the finish in Apt: a straight descent until the final flat kilometer. The town of Apt, located on the southern edge of the Mont Ventoux park, hosted the finish of the penultimate stage of Paris-Nice 2020, won by Belgian Tiesj Benoot. At the finish line there are always 10, 6 and 4 seconds of time bonuses valid for the general classification.
