German takes the honors on the second stage of Paris-Nice, the Épône - Montargis 187 km route: Max Kanter of XDS Astana claimed the victory in the sprint, ahead of New Zealander Pithie of Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe and Belgian Stuyven of Soudal Quick-Step.
THE RACE. The first attack bears the signature of Jasha Sutterlin (Jayco AlUla) who is joined within a few kilometers by Matteo Vercher and Mathis Le Berre (TotalEnergies) and Casper Pedersen of Soudal Quick-Step.
Sutterlin himself is the first to attack again, followed by Vercher while Pedersen and Le Berre continue their action until 59 kilometers from the finish, when the peloton regrouped.
Belgian Braet wins the intermediate sprint with Ayuso finishing second and gaining 4 seconds while race leader Lamperti comes third and takes 2 seconds of bonus time.
At 21 kilometers to go, Dutchman Daan Hoole of Decathlon tries his luck, exploiting his time trial skills and putting pressure on the sprinters' teams who only caught him inside the final kilometer.
Again today, unfortunately numerous crashes to report with at least ten riders hitting the ground.
