Demi Vollering (FDJ United - SUEZ) maintains her reign as queen of the Setmana Ciclista Volta Femenina de la Comunitat Valenciana. After winning the 2025 edition of the Spanish race, the European champion - already winner of the first stage of this year's edition and overall leader - today crossed the Valencia finish line with raised arms, beating Liane Lippert (Movistar Team) and Maeva Squiban (UAE Team ADQ), Mie Bjøndal Ottestad (Uno-X Mobility) and Antonia Niedermaier (CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto) in a tight sprint. Elisa Balsamo (Lidl Trek), sixth, won the sprint of the first chasing group, finishing the race 15" behind the winner; important placements also for Eleonora Gasparrini (UAE Team ADQ) and Letizia Borghesi (AG Insurance - Soudal Team), ninth and tenth in the day's classification respectively.
In the overall time classification, Vollering leads by 1'02" over Maeva Squiban and 1'12" over Mie Bjøndal Ottestad; the FDJ United - Suez captain also wins the points classification while 19-year-old Viktória Chladoňová (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) is crowned best young rider of the competition and Lieke Nooijen (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) is awarded the best climber.
THE STAGE - Four athletes animated the first part of the stage: French rider Émilie Morier (St Michel - Preference Home - Auber93), Austrian Carina Schrempf (Fenix-Premier Tech) and Dutch riders Maike van der Duin (CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto) and Malou Eisen (VolkerWessels).
This quartet managed to gain an important advantage over the peloton, but at the foot of the Alto de l'Oronet, FDJ United – SUEZ and UAE Team ADQ forced the pace that allowed the group to get closer to the breakaway. About thirty kilometers from the finish, Squiban - second in the general classification - launched an attack that ignited the race: in the blink of an eye, Vollering positioned herself on the French rider's wheel, followed by Antonia Niedermaier (CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto).
The initial breakaway definitively neutralized, the European champion, leader of the Setmana Ciclista Volta Femenina de la Comunitat Valenciana, increased the pace, remaining at the front with Niedermaier while Squiban decided to continue at her own pace.
Fifteen kilometers from the finish, Vollering and Niedermaier were joined by a trio composed of Squiban, Ottestad, and Lippert. A group of five athletes was formed that faced the final part with about thirty seconds advantage over the first chasing group.
