After the Trofeo Calvià, António Morgado also wins the 2026 Figueira Champions Classic, which was raced today with start and finish in Figueira da Foz. The Portuguese rider from UAE Team Emirates, already the winner of the race last year, treated himself to a splendid repeat victory in a two-man sprint against Alex Aranburu (Cofidis) who had initiated the decisive move a few kilometers from the finish line. Pau Martí (NSN Cycling Team) also made the podium, finishing third at 9"; followed by Jarno Widar (Lotto Intermarchè) and Ion Izagirre (Cofidis)

THE RACE - A long breakaway was made by Diogo Narciso (Credibom), Diogo Pinto (Credibom), Pedro Pinto (Efapel Cycling) and Daniel Viegas (Aviludo). Experienced Rafael Reis (Anicolor), Cedric Beullens (Lotto Intermarchè) and 19-year-old Spanish rider Iker Gómez (Equipo Kern Pharma) then rejoined this all-Portuguese group.

The cards were then reshuffled and at the front remained: Pedro Pinto, Beullens and Gómez, who with 45 kilometers to go had a 1'00" advantage over a small chasing group composed of McNulty (UAE Team Emirates), Martínez (Red Bull - BORA – hansgrohe), Poole (Team Picnic PostNL) and Sheehan (NSN Cycling Team).

At the bell of the last lap, the chasers rejoined the breakaway, but shortly after the entire peloton came back together.

The last passage on the Rua Parque Florestal climb made a selection and at the head of the race were 2025 edition winner António Morgado (UAE Team Emirates – XRG) with his very active teammate Brandon McNulty, Dani Martinez (Red Bull - BORA – hansgrohe), Spaniards Pau Martí (NSN Cycling Team) and Alex Aranburu (Cofidis), British rider Thomas Gloag (Pinarello Q36.5) and 20-year-old Belgian Jarno Widar (Lotto Intermarchè).
