The Tour Down Under won by Jay Vine opened the 2026 World Tour calendar. The 30-year-old Australian secured his second victory three years after his 2023 triumph and became one of six cyclists capable of winning at least two editions of this race. The absolute record holder with four victories is Simon Gerrans, followed by Stuart O'Grady, André Greipel, Richie Porte, Daryl Impey, and Jay Vine, each with two wins.
With the first podium finishes for Swiss rider Mauro Schmid and Australian Harry Sweeny, the number of riders with at least one top-three finish in the Tour Down Under final classification has risen to 51. Australia, with the results of this twenty-sixth edition, has brought its total final victories to 15 (57.69% of the total) and total podium finishes to 35 (including 12 second places and 8 third places).
Notable are the three stages won by Great Britain with Samuel Watson, Ethan Vernon, and Matthew Brennan, and the excellent performance of Andrea Raccagni Noviero, who became the first Italian to win the white jersey as the best young rider in the Australian race.
For Italian cycling, the first three seasonal victories have arrived: Christian Scaroni won the Classica Camp de Morvedre, while Lorenzo Nespoli and Matteo Fabbro won the third and fourth stages of the Tour of Sharjah, respectively.
