The Picnic PostNL Team signs two young Dutch riders: Frits Biesterbos has signed a two-year contract, while Timo De Jong will join for 2026.
Frits Biesterbos. Native of Apeldoorn, Biesterbos came late to road cycling, having primarily focused on mountain biking until the U23 category. The 2024 season saw Biesterbos achieve excellent results and victories in the Dutch national team, which earned him a stagiaire contract with BEAT Cycling Club for the second half of the year, before becoming a full member in 2025. Continuing his growth, two second places in Slovenia in March kicked off his season. In July, Biesterbos secured his first podium in a .1 category race, finishing second in the final time trial of the Sibiu Cycling Tour, just a few seconds behind the day's winner. His autumn season saw him competing in several challenging one-day races, where Biesterbos demonstrated his tenacity by finishing among the top 25 in each of the five Belgian races. However, the highlights of his season came in his home country, the Netherlands, where he won the national gravel championships in Aalten before competing in the World Championships. There, he impressed many by riding alongside experienced WorldTour professionals on the challenging Limburg terrain, ultimately securing a brilliant silver medal.
Timo de Jong. Born in Goes, in the Zuid-Beveland region of Zeeland, De Jong has been riding with VolkerWessels for the past six seasons. He has distinguished himself in the challenging Dutch cycling landscape and boasts excellent performances in international events across Europe. 2025 was an exceptional year for the tall and powerful Dutch athlete, who won a stage and secured second place in the general classification at the Olympia's Tour in March, while in July he claimed victory at the Midden-Brabant Poort Omloop. These results earned him a stagiaire contract with the Picnic PostNL Team for the second half of the year, where he gained valuable experience and proved to be a valuable teammate in several Pro-level races. De Jong's crowning moment came at the recent Tour of the Netherlands, where, racing for his current team, he defeated fierce competitors after a challenging day in the breakaway, winning on the VAM-berg and finishing seventh in the general classification.
