In relation to the news circulated about the disqualification of athlete Giorgia Pellizotti after the European cyclocross championships on Saturday, November 8th, Guerciotti wants to clarify the technical correctness and the actions taken. Furthermore, it confirms that the disqualified athlete is not at fault and did not engage in any unsportsmanlike behavior.
It should be noted that the European championships are not included in the list of races where using a UCI patented frame is currently mandatory. It is also highlighted that the frame in question was used in other international competitions before last weekend, where similarly, the use of a UCI Patented frame was neither required nor requested.
It is noted that, with a confirmed UCI homologation, efforts are being made to ensure that the aforementioned homologation conforms to the slight modifications agreed upon with the UCI, with a 10-day deadline.
On Saturday, November 8th, following discussions with UCI material representatives, it was confirmed that athletes could race the Europeans with the Vito bike frame. Subsequently, via email, the news of Giorgia Pellizotti's disqualification and the impossibility of using the bike in the following day's race was communicated.
Guerciotti is fully committed to implementing the agreed variations, in time for the next UCI events where this is required, specifically for the upcoming World Cup race.
Guerciotti, notwithstanding the aforementioned course of events and the circumstances in which they occurred, apologizes to the athletes, guaranteeing the usual technical diligence and professionalism essential for the best performance of their sporting activity.
The company also wants to clarify that it has always requested and obtained UCI certification for all models intended for competitions and currently boasts over ten models in the official UCI Patented frame list.
It is understood that, in the event of the spread of unfounded or inappropriate news about these facts that might in any way prejudice the company's or the athletes' good name, or compromise or damage the related rights, Guerciotti, together with its legal representatives, reserves the right to adopt any appropriate initiative for its legitimate protection.
