Michael Matthews has renewed his contract with Team Jayco AlUla until the end of the 2027 season. The eight-time Grand Tour stage winner hashad to face a challenging 2025 season after being diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism in June, but is now recovered and back to racing.
"I am super happy: the problems I had during last summer made me appreciate the team, my life, as it is, and the last years I've spent in cycling. I still feel like I'm 25 years old, so I'm excited to continue this journey with Team Jayco AlUla. I really feel that I'm improving more and more, so I can't wait to spend another two years with the team and see what we can achieve together. I hope to be able to reach those goals that I have always sought in my career together with the team. I can't wait to see what these next two years will bring and to appreciate every moment".
Brent Copeland, team general manager, comments: "Michael has demonstrated time and again what he is capable of in the most important races, and we are happy to see him continue with us next season. He had a difficult 2025 season, as we know, but the way he returned to racing and the dedication he showed to get back to the top shows what kind of rider he is. He is a true professional and a valuable asset to the team. He still has great goals, and we can't wait to work with him and achieve them together".
