Showing splendid form, Joshua Tarling was crowned world champion in the Points Race. The 21-year-old British rider secured the gold medal by scoring 56 points. 48 points earned silver for the American Moore, while the French rider Petit took the bronze, winning the final sprint and finishing with 41 points. Viviani finished eleventh.
WOMEN'S OMNIUM - A point-by-point battle between Wiebes and Borras decided the Women's Omnium. The Dutch rider emerged victorious, winning the world title in the discipline with 136 points against the French rider's 127. Danish rider Amalie Dideriksen took third place with 120 points; Vittoria Guazzini finished in fourteenth place. For Wiebes, this is her second world title in the Santiago del Cile world championships, following her Scratch race victory.
MEN'S KILOMETER. An "orange" double in the standing start kilometer. Gold medal and world title for Harrie Lavreysen who stops the clock at 57".9 and wins his nineteenth track world championship, sharing the podium with Jeffrey Hoogland in second place and British rider Joseph Truman in bronze. We recall that Italians Bianchi and Predomo in the morning qualifications recorded eleventh and fifteenth times respectively, thus failing to enter the final.
MEN'S INDIVIDUAL PURSUIT. Josh Charlton succeeds Jonathan Milan in the Individual Pursuit world championship roll of honor, who won last year. The 2003-born British rider recorded a time of 4':04, thus conquering gold ahead of Rasmus Pedersen. The bronze medal went to American Anders Johnson.
WOMEN'S SPRINT. The Netherlands celebrate in this discipline too: Hetty Van De Wouw won the title by beating Japanese rider Mina Sato.
