A significant step forward for the development of the women's movement, made possible by the commitment of Filippo Pozzato, an organizer capable of proposing quality events and interpreting the new needs of contemporary cycling. The first edition of Veneto Women promises emotions and spectacle.
The route, designed to encourage long-range attacks, is characterized as a fast, dynamic, and unpredictable race. Ahead of the Giro del Veneto, the start is from Piazza dei Signori in Vicenza, heading towards Montecchio Maggiore, San Bonifacio, and finishing after 116.2 km in Corso di Porta Nuova in Verona, just steps from the Arena. The symbol of the race is the two laps of the Torricelle (15 km per circuit lap), the historic climb of the 1999 and 2004 World Championships and a city that boasts the record of hosting two world championships in six years.
Teams at the start: UAE Team ADQ, AG Insurance - Soudal Team, Movistar Team, Canyon/SRAM Zondacrypto, Human Powered Health, Aromitalia 3T Vaiano, BePink - Imatra - Bongioanni, Isolmant - Premac - Vittoria, Team Medelspeck E-Work, Top Girls Fassa Bortolo, Zhiraf Pagliaccia, Horizons Cycling Club.
As with the Tessile & Moda Trophy on Sunday, the Veneto Women also suffers from being in its first edition and falling simultaneously with the Chinese WorldTour races: only 69 athletes will be at the start, with Elisa Longo Borghini (UAE ADQ) and Marlen Reusser (Movistar Team) once again playing the role of favorites.
