When you come from a success, the greatest challenge is to confirm yourself. The Red Bull Genoa Cerro Abajo 2025 succeeded, exceeding all expectations and confirming the Ligurian capital as a perfect and inimitable scenario for the only European stage of the most selective urban downhill circuit in the world.

The enthusiasm for the extraordinary debut in 2024 has not yet subsided, and here comes the second edition of the Genoa stage, raising the bar and consolidating a unique synergy between sports spectacle, urban landscape, and public involvement, once again transforming "creuze" and "caruggi" into an international stage of emotions.

The world's best riders competed along the now iconic 2.2 km route, with 279 meters of elevation drop, from Monte Peralto to Largo della Zecca, in a vertiginous race through natural obstacles, century-old staircases, millimeter passages, and artificial challenges specifically integrated into the urban fabric.

The result was a total show, with impressive numbers both on and off the track: about 35-40,000 spectators populated the route throughout the day, offering a powerful visual narrative, broadcast live on Red Bull TV with commentary in Italian by champions Marco Aurelio Fontana (MTB) and Alessandro Barbero (BMX), along with sports journalist Giulia De Maio, and relaunched by major international sports media.

The winner was Brazilian rider Roger Vieira, whose aggressive and fluid style allowed him to perfectly assimilate every curve and jump of the Genoese route. With a masterful descent, completed in the stunning time of 2'37"798, he surpassed the competition, preceding on the podium German Johannes Fischbach (2'39"301) and Frenchman Adrien Loron (2'39"409). A clear dominance that inflamed the crowd gathered along the route. Worth noting, for Italian colors, the qualification to the final of South Tyrolean rider Hannes Alber.

"I am tired and proud at the same time, I know I've done an almost perfect race" – he declared, visibly excited, Vieira immediately after crossing the finish line, in the jubilation of the crowd present in Largo della Zecca – "it was an extremely tight competition, the recorded times have significantly dropped compared to the trials and qualifications". "Winning here is incredible, I loved the passion of the Genoese public throughout these days. I dedicate this success, and my gratitude, to my family, my team, to all those who allowed me to cross the ocean and be here racing."

The race was the culmination of a weekend packed with side events, public activities, and cultural initiatives, with the city truly mobilizing for the Red Bull Genoa Cerro Abajo: from the village set up at Porto Antico to the panoramic points of Spianata Castelletto, up to multiple activations in various urban spaces, which participated in the event with a contagious collective energy, making the event a true popular festival.

Not by chance, as in 2024, the route was completely free access for the public, confirming the intent to offer an accessible and inclusive show. Red Bull Genoa Cerro Abajo 2025 was not just a competition, but a 360-degree urban experience, a visual and participatory narrative of the city, its charm, and its energy.

A story that started from afar, beginning with the spectacular trailer shot at Luigi Ferraris Stadium, with riders engaged in spectacular tricks among stands, corridors, and bleachers. There was then a meeting with the two souls of the city's football, Genoa CFC and UC Sampdoria: Tomas Slavik, winner of the 2024 edition, and New Zealander Brook MacDonald, visited both teams "their way" (who are debuting in their respective championships this weekend), who honored them with personalized game jerseys. To finally arrive at the adrenaline that pervaded every timed descent, from trials to the race, launching a clear and powerful message: Genoa is the perfect urban space to bring together sport, history, and territory, where the city becomes an ideal ground for challenges and creativity.

However, the success of the 2025 edition would not have been possible without solid institutional support: the Municipality of Genoa has in fact reiterated its long-term commitment to promoting urban downhill as a driving force for urban, tourist, and sports enhancement. The Ligurian capital has been confirmed among the Red Bull Cerro Abajo stages until 2027, with the aim of leaving a lasting legacy in the city fabric and promoting the spread of a culture of alternative and sustainable mobility, with the bicycle as a focal element.

"The Red Bull Cerro Abajo has offered the city of Genoa and all of Liguria a unique spectacle, capable of fascinating citizens and tourists and making the splendid panoramas of our capital known to an audience spread worldwide" – comments the President of the Liguria Region Marco Bucci"As Liguria Region, we are proud to support international events like this, which is undoubtedly among the most important appointments of Liguria 2025 European Region of Sport. Investing in high-profile sporting events is strategic both in terms of territorial marketing and tourism promotion. Our territory, made of mountains overlooking the sea, offers enthusiasts suitable locations to practice this sport. Liguria has all the credentials to become a destination loved and sought after by downhill enthusiasts: this is demonstrated by the Red Bull Cerro Abajo itself, which will stop in Genoa until 2027".

"Genoa, the Genoese, and all enthusiasts who came from outside have given a great response, with great enthusiasm. Participation over the three days was very high, I saw many young people and this is very important" – comments the Mayor of Genoa, Silvia Salis"I thank Red Bull, Liguria Region, and everyone who committed to realizing this event, certainly complex but very engaging. An adrenaline-fueled race that changes the city's perspective: we always say Genoa is an uphill city, today instead it was a downhill city, extremely fast. I am truly proud to have closed an agreement with Red Bull for which Genoa will remain the only European stage until 2027, confirming the administration's will to promote major world-class sporting events to enhance the territory, its tourist potential, urban culture".

Genoa's long-term commitment to the Red Bull Cerro Abajo circuit, and the double success of the 2024 and 2025 editions, confirm the city's international dimension, opening new paths for visibility that goes beyond sports to dialogue with areas such as tourism, territorial promotion, innovation, and urban regeneration. To look with different eyes at the heritage of one of the oldest and most fascinating cities in the world.

Red Bull Genoa Cerro Abajo 2025 has written a new chapter of this journey, confirming that the "Superba" is not just a race location like any other: it is an active protagonist of a global narrative that puts passion, courage, and vision at the center. And it's not over yet: Genoa is just the inaugural stage of the new 2025/26 season and is already looking to the future.
