
Jonas Vingegaard was one of the big favorites for the victory in Limone Piemonte and won in a sprint, narrowly beating Giulio Ciccone by just a few millimeters, who had to settle for second place. In the first mountain-top finish, the Dane proved to be the strongest in a reduced group, snatching the red leader's jersey from Jasper Philipsen.

Despite a crash just before the Limone Piemonte climb (you can see the clear marks on Jonas's knee in the video), the Team Visma | Lease a Bike leader knew that the finale was suitable for him. In the final kilometers, the Dutch team was always at the front, and Kuss's work was crucial. "The team rode brilliantly. It's really fantastic to win like this. Starting a stage race with a victory on the second day is always an excellent result."
During the second stage of the Vuelta a España, there was a crash on the right side of the road due to rain. Five Team Visma | Lease a Bike riders, including Vingegaard, fell, but all managed to continue. The victory remained uncertain until the end, then the Dane overtook Giulio Ciccone in the sprint, winning the stage.
"Before the last turn, I thought I wouldn't be able to pass Ciccone. Fortunately, the finish line was further away than I thought. You must never let an opportunity to win a Grand Tour slip away. That's why I gave my all yesterday. I fell quite hard, but at first glance, everything seems fine. Of course, I have a few scratches."
His teammate Matteo Jorgensen finished ninth. "Jonas's victory is impressive. It seemed really explosive. It was really nice to see him win like this." Vingegaard's stage victory brings the Team Visma | Lease a Bike's seasonal total to 31 wins, after Matthew Brennan won his second triumph of the week at the Tour of Germany.
