Next Wednesday he will launch from the starting ramp in Essen. It's a debut and at the same time the start towards an intense end of the season. Florian Lipowitz will race at the Deutschland Tour for the first time, and this is not a trivial note since, apart from the national championships, he has not raced a UCI event in his country for over two years.
"For every German rider, racing in Germany is something special. And for me this year it is even more so. At the Tour de France, there were so many German fans along the route that I can't wait to see what the atmosphere will be like next week," says Lipowitz.
The euphoria from the Tour de France has left its mark. Florian Lipowitz wants to give something back to fans in Germany: a personal thank you for their passionate support in France. The Deutschland Tour is the perfect opportunity for him to do just that and to repay his teammates as well.
"I've had two weeks of rest. For me, the Deutschland Tour is the beginning of the next racing block. The route is more suitable for our sprinters and classics specialists: with Jordi Meeus, Danny Van Poppel and Laurence Pithi, we are perfectly equipped for every stage. But I want to give something back to the guys and help them achieve results," Lipowitz adds.
After racing in Germany, Lipowitz will have five challenging racing days left to finish the season and is focused on them: in September, he will compete in the WorldTour classics in Quebec and Montreal. Then in October, there will be the Italian classics, namely the Giro dell'Emilia, the Tre Valli Varesine and, as a grand finale, the Monument Il Lombardia. A worthy conclusion to what has been an extraordinary year for Florian Lipowitz.
