The 2025 Tour de France concluded with Tadej Pogacar's triumph and, for Italian cycling, with Jonathan Milan's Green Jersey conquest, 15 years after Alessandro Petacchi. A result achieved after a Tour in which the Friulian sprinter won two stage victories and two second places. But it was a Tour that saw several Italian riders as protagonists. Besides the rider from Buja, Davide Ballerini, second in Paris, and Matteo Trentin also put on a show. In this edition, Edoardo Affini, third in the time trial behind Evenepoel and Pogacar, Simone Velasco, fourth in the 20th stage, Alberto Dainese, and Vincenzo Albanese also obtained notable placements.
President Cordiano Dagnoni, present in Paris during the final stage, wanted to congratulate them all, thanking them for their performance: "The two stage victories, Jonathan Milan's green jersey, the great work done in their respective teams by riders like Simone Consonni, Matteo Trentin, and Edoardo Affini, who also stood on the time trial stage podium, Davide Ballerini's second place today in a prestigious, tough, and spectacular stage, the placements of Velasco, Dainese, Albanese, give us a Tour that hasn't been this happy for Italian cycling in a long time. I want to emphasize that Jonathan Milan is the most genuine product of our movement: raised in one of Friuli's historic societies, developed on the track both with his own society and with national team training camps, becoming an Olympic and World Champion with the Blue Jersey, definitively establishing himself in a team that can also count on Italian personnel, starting with the team manager. Our movement continues to produce not only athletes of great stature but also highly appreciated professional figures worldwide. To all of them go the thanks of fans and congratulations for how they have brought prestige to Italian sport in what represents the University of our sport. Congratulations also to Pogacar, who today again demonstrated he is one of the strongest cyclists ever. Jonathan Milan, Filippo Ganna, Elia Viviani, Vittoria Guazzini, the Consonni brothers, are extraordinary champions formed on the track despite Italy having only one velodrome, confirming that infrastructure is fundamental for safely developing young talents. I hope their successes can facilitate investments capable of creating new ones"
