A canvas ready to be painted: drawing inspiration from a famous artist, Lidl-Trek presents in an original way the eight cyclists who will be at the Grand Departure of the Tour de France on Saturday:
Simone Consonni (ITA, 30): A 2020 participation
Jonathan Milan (ITA, 24): Tour de France debut
Thibau Nys (BEL, 22): Tour de France and Grand Tour debut
Quinn Simmons (USA, 24): Two participations, 2022 and 2023
Mattias Skjelmose (DEN, 24): One participation, 2023
Toms Skujins (LAT, 34): Six participations, 2018-2022 and 2024
Jasper Stuyven (BEL, 33): Eight participations, 2016 and 2018-2024
Edward Theuns (BEL, 34): Four participations, 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2021
Sports director Steven de Jongh comments: "We have an ambitious team for the Tour de France 2025, with multiple objectives we want to achieve in the next three weeks of racing in France. Mattias Skjelmose will target the general classification, while Jonathan Milan will make his first Tour de France appearance aiming for the fast stages, particularly the first stage, which is obviously extremely important. There's an opportunity to conquer the first yellow jersey of the race and Jonny will have his lead group with him: Jasper Stuyven, Edward Theuns and Simone Consonni. We've seen how well this group works together and they will handle the initial part. Quinn Simmons, who comes to the race after an excellent stage win at the Tour of Switzerland, will be the team's chosen metronome and will therefore cover many kilometers at the front to favor the sprint, while Toms Skujins will take care of the final positioning and will keep a close eye on Mattias. Finally, Thibau Nys is taking a big step forward by racing the Tour de France as his first Grand Tour ever, and there are certainly stages along the route that could suit him. The full group hasn't ridden much together, but I'm confident we can have a great race, riding on the momentum of an incredible Giro d'Italia"
