In Tuscany, the Montalbano Tour was held, a beautiful national classic that has been running since 1954, steeped in history and tradition. A selective route with four passages through the "wall" of Madonna del Papa that, together with the intense heat and other climbs, caused massive gaps, with only 19 of the 130 riders at the start completing the race. The race was dominated by the MG Kvis Costruzioni e Ambiente team, directed by Maurizio Frizzo, and the English athletes. Like in 2024, David Benjamin Granger won, this time in a group sprint with his compatriot and teammate Kingston and Carrò, while Cantoni's fourth place sealed the team's great performance. Granger, who had won the Firenze-Empoli this season, attacked after 30 km, undeterred by the heat and the remaining kilometers, alongside his compatriot. Another English rider, Wood from Zappi Cycling, joined the pair but eventually dropped back, while Carrò rejoined the lead group with an excellent move. The trio's advantage grew significantly, and Granger once again won the mountain grand prix and the race. He will now compete with his teammates in the professional Giro dell'Appennino. Among others, notable performances came from Lucca, De Laurentis, and among the Tuscans, local rider Innocenti and Galigani, who completed the Montalbano Tour organized by the local sports group and Seanese Corse, who are already thinking about the seventieth edition next year with some important innovations.
