Simon Yates is the 71st rider to write his name in the golden book of the Giro d'Italia, the third British rider after Chris Froome (1st in 2018) and Tao Geoghegan Hart (1st in 2020). For him, the podium finishes in the Corsa Rosa become two, considering also the 3rd place in 2021, just as two become his Grand Tour victories counting the triumph at the 2018 Vuelta a España.
The 32-year-old British rider was also the 14th cyclist to overturn the Corsa Rosa on the penultimate day of the race and the 14th to celebrate the final victory without winning any stages, an event that has occurred 17 times in history.
British podium finishes in the 108 editions of the Giro d'Italia have become 7, while Simon Yates has brought to 15 the days spent as overall leader, counting also the 13 from the 2018 edition.
Isaac Del Toro is the 175th cyclist to stand on the Giro d'Italia podium, the first ever from Mexico, which thus becomes the 22nd nation with at least one top placement in the history of the Corsa Rosa. For Carapaz, the podiums are 3, counting the 1st place in 2019 and the 2nd in 2022. In total, 17 riders won stages at the 2025 Giro d'Italia, representing 11 nations.
For Italy, only one partial success (by Scaroni) and 11 top-three placements in the 21 stages disputed, a slightly better result compared to 2017, when Italian cycling achieved one stage victory (by Nibali) and 8 daily podiums. That year, however, Nibali finished 3rd in the final classification, while in this edition the best placement was Caruso's 5th position.
