Just days before the Giro d'Italia's start in Albania, Tudor Pro Cycling has officially announced its lineup for its second participation in the race. Australian Michael Storer will lead the team's general classification ambitions, following his impressive victory at the Tour of the Alps.
"After our debut last year, we are ready for another three weeks of attacking racing - stated Fabian Cancellara, owner of Tudor Pro Cycling -. Participating in the Giro d'Italia is a true honor, and we are deeply grateful to RCS for their trust. This second participation is an important step in the continuous development of the Team. We arrive with our 'Born To Dare' spirit, ready to make our mark".
After finishing among the top 10 in 2024, Storer returns to the Giro with the goal of improving that performance. "I am in excellent form and high spirits. The hard work done during high-altitude training with the team, combined with the victory at the Tour of the Alps, gives me great confidence for this year's Giro d'Italia. I have always loved this race and I approach it with a balanced mix of calm and enthusiasm".
Storer will be supported by a solid team, including experienced riders Alexander Krieger, Florian Stork, and Larry Warbasse, the latter two who recently trained with him in Sierra Nevada and raced alongside him at the Tour of the Alps. Beyond the general classification, Tudor Pro Cycling also aims for stage victories, with several riders capable of making their mark.
German national champion Marco Brenner returns to Grand Tours three years after his appearance at the 2022 Vuelta a España. Three riders – Dutch riders Rick Pluimers and Maikel Zijlaard, along with Swiss climber Yannis Voisard – will make their Grand Tour and Giro d'Italia debut.
Marc Hirschi is absent from the lineup, who was originally planned to participate. Both he and the team had high hopes for his Giro debut, but recent performances at the Ardennes Classics demonstrated that he is not in form to compete for the Pink Jersey in the opening week. "I am truly disappointed not to race the Giro: it's a beautiful race that makes me dream and in which I was excited to debut. It's frustrating not to be at the level we had anticipated".
