Royal sprint by Trentine rider Agata Campana at the "Cassa di Risparmio di Fossano - City of Fossano" Trophy, a national race reserved for the women open category, which took place on the roads of the Cuneo province, and serving as the opening event of the "Three Days in Pink in the Lands of Granda 2025".
The talented athlete from Bft Burzoni - Vo2 Team Pink, in her first year in the junior category, beat in a sprint the twenty-year-old rider from Conegliano Veneto Elisa De Vallier (Top Girls Fassa Bortolo), who was prominent in the recent "Sanremo Women UCIWWT" and emerged as the strongest among the elite, and Michela De Grandis from Team Mendelspeck e-work. The Varese rider Erja Giulia Bianchi (Biesse - Carrera - Premac) and the Friulian Chantal Pegolo (U.C. Conscio Pedale del Sile), fourth and fifth at the finish line respectively, completed the junior category podium.
A total of 152 athletes (71 elite and 81 juniors), representing 24 teams, responded to the invitation of the organizers from the glorious Racconigi Cycling Team led by president Silvio Traversa and team manager Claudio Vassallo. The racers battled for 86 kilometers, drawn on a circuit repeated seven times with a 4000-meter section characterized by a particularly narrow and undulating country road, which at each lap stretched out the colorful peloton. Various breakaway attempts never gained significant advantages, also due to the excellent work done by the sprinters' teams, eager to contest the final sprint. The success did not escape an excellent Agata Campana, making her absolute debut in an open race, after numerous victories in youth categories. Celebration also for Bft Burzoni - Vo2 Team Pink, which won the trophy for the best team.
"I am truly thrilled about this fantastic victory," the young Trentine athlete Agata Campana told the microphones of speaker Alessandro Brambilla, "I did not expect to be able to sprint for success, so I thank my precious teammates for the excellent work done throughout the race. I dedicate this victory to them and generally to my entire society."
The event enjoyed support from the Piedmont Regional Council, the General States - Wellness Prevention, the Cassa di Risparmio di Fossano - Cassa di Risparmio di Fossano Foundation and the patronage of the City of Fossano. At the rich awards ceremony, Danilo Toti, sports councilor of Fossano, Mauro Giaccardi, vice president of Cassa di Risparmio di Fossano, Marco Gallo, Piedmont regional councilor, Giulia Marro, Piedmont regional councilor, and Valerio Oderda, mayor of Racconigi, were present. Words of admiration for the excellent event were also expressed by 'Diablo' Claudio Chiappucci, present on the occasion as a technical motorcycle escort.
The "Cassa di Risparmio di Fossano - City of Fossano Trophy" was also valid as the opening event of the "Three Days in Pink in the Lands of Granda 2025", together with the "Franco Traversa Memorial", an individual time trial scheduled for Saturday, September 13, and the traditional "Latterie Inalpi Trophy - Annibale Viterie - Pinuccio and Andrea Chiavassa Memorial", set for Sunday, September 14. At the end of the three races, two separate rankings will be drawn up: one reserved for elite women, with the white "Latterie Inalpi" jersey, and the other for junior women, with the blue jersey branded "Banca CRS".
