Giuseppe Giglia continues to amaze: the first-year rookie of Team Nibali was once again the protagonist of the competitive Sunday, winning the Borbonica Cup, a national XCO event, which took place in Randazzo (CT).
Giglia, reaching his fifth consecutive victory, once again overwhelmed the competition, closing the race with a final time of 41'53" at an hourly average of 17.187 km/h. Behind him, Lorenzo Giannone (Nonsolobike) and Leonardo Prataviera (Carbonhubo CMQ) could do nothing against the young yellow-red-black rider's form: their arrival gap was over six minutes.
Simultaneously, in Pace del Mela, the 2nd edition of the Peppino Lucchesi Memorial was held, a road race that for Team Nibali saw Sebastian Rizzo and Vittorio Davide Mascolo at the starting line. They finished the race in second and third positions respectively, among first-year rookies, behind the race winner Leonardo Firullo (Naturosa).
For next week, the team's first road debut is planned in Barletta for the Azzurra Day, an event organized by ASD Fusion Bike that will see Giglia, Mascolo, and Rizzo competing together for the first time.
