Ivan Romeo won the third stage of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, from Algemesi to Alpuente, covering 180 kilometers. The Iberian Movistar rider seized the moment about twelve kilometers from the finish and with a beautiful solo ride, he imposed himself ahead of Santiago Buitrago (Bahrain Victorious) and Joao Almeida from UAE Team Emirates XRG, who, by virtue of time bonuses, jumps to the top of the general classification. A great performance by Davide Piganzoli (Polti VisitMalta), who finishes in seventh position.
A series of attacks characterized the end of the stage: first Buitrago and Almeida, then the breakaway by Carlos Rodriguez (Ineos Grenadiers), later replaced by Ivan Romeo (Movistar), who detached himself from a group of about a dozen athletes that included, among others, Piganzoli and Davide Bais from Polti VisitMalta, Bilbao, Lenny Martinez, and McNulty. Romeo's move proved to be the most fluid, and the Spanish rider from Valladolid, born in 2003, goes on to claim the well-deserved success.
