RED BULL - BORA - HANSGROHE: ROGLIC SETS SIGHTS ON GIRO AND TOUR, BIG AMBITIONS FOR THE CLASSICS

PROFESSIONALS | 14/12/2024 | 14:00

Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe won the last Grand Tour of the 2024 season and essentially with that success marked the path for 2025: next year, winning another Grand Tour returns to the wish list of the German team.
To achieve this ambitious goal and win the third Grand Tour title in the team's history, the squad particularly relies on Primož Roglič, who will return to the Giro d'Italia after a year of absence. In 2016, the Giro was the first Grand Tour the Slovenian had ever raced. He finished third in his second appearance and took home the pink jersey in 2023.
Now a return is expected: the road to the pink race includes Volta ao Algarve in February and Volta a Catalunya in March. Jai Hindley, the 2022 winner, and Dani Martínez, the second-place finisher in 2024, also have the Giro in their plans. Hindley will use Tirreno-Adriatico to prepare, while Martínez will race Paris-Nice.
Tour de France: Next Highlight
The second major tour on the calendar is the Tour de France, in which Primož Roglič will participate. He will be supported in his general classification ambitions by Aleks Vlasov and Dani Martínez. For the Vuelta a España, the team plans to have two leaders: Jai Hindley and Aleks Vlasov will race together in the race that Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe won this year.
Ralph Denk, CEO Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe: "We had a successful season. But of course, we are ambitious and want to achieve more. We finished second at the Giro and won the Vuelta, so winning another Grand Tour is the logical goal for 2025. This is what drives us, and with our strong team, it is absolutely within our reach."
One-Day Races Return to the Spotlight With a major recruitment campaign, the team has also repositioned itself for one-day races. Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe will tackle the pavé classics with renewed ambitions. In challenging one-day races, such as the Ardennes, the new arrival Maxim Van Gils will play an important role.
Regarding this, Ralph Denk adds: "In the long term, we want to establish ourselves as the most attractive brand in cycling. Beyond the Grand Tours, there are many calendar highlights that we can influence with our style. These include week-long stage races, where our talents can take responsibility and aim for success. Or one-day races, for which we have specifically strengthened our team with new riders who can bring us to the most coveted finish line."
