ON THE ENTRY INTO FORCE OF NEW REGULATIONS, AN ESSENTIAL HANDBOOK FOR SAFE TRAVEL

On Wednesday, December 18, The New Highway Code will be available for free with Corriere della Sera, a guide for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians who want to delve into the details of the new regulations that will come into effect on Saturday.
Alessio Ribaudo, who has already authored two volumes for Corriere della Sera on road safety topics, is also the author of this clear and comprehensive handbook, designed to understand the details of the "mini-suspension" of the driver's license; the obligations for electric scooter users; the new power limits for new drivers' vehicles and the penalties for those caught using a cell phone while driving.
The volume also addresses the new rules on speed cameras, ZTLs, and fines, providing updated and complete information for anyone who wants to move in compliance with the rules. Through thematic chapters such as Alcohol and Drugs; Speed, Tutor and Speed Cameras; Electric Scooters, Bicycles, and Pedestrians; Mini-Suspension of Driver's License; Fines; Pre-Departure Checks; Safe Driving and Medical Corner, every aspect of the new legislation is illustrated in a simple and direct manner. With the help of 200 questions and equally many answers, enriched with figures, tables, and infographics, the volume then offers self-assessment quizzes to test what is already known and what remains to be learned.
The 96-page guide also offers practical advice to prepare best before traveling and safely face road unexpected events. Among the topics analyzed: what to check before departing to travel safely; how to adjust the seat to reach all controls; driving techniques in snow or rain; how to avoid sudden obstacles; why maintain a safe distance; which foods to prefer before getting behind the wheel to prevent drowsiness (cause of 22% of fatal crashes).
The topic will also be the subject of a live meeting on CorriereTV titled How the Highway Code Changes: What You Need to Know, on Tuesday, December 17 at 12 pm. Hosted by Maria Serena Natale, the author Alessio Ribaudo and Luigi Altamura, commander of the Local Police of Verona and Anci representative, will participate.
The volume, supported by Anas-Gruppo Fs Italiane, is part of the multiple initiatives that Corriere della Sera carries forward to keep attention high on road safety education, through articles, in-depth analyses, volumes, dedicated school meetings, and the establishment of a university degree award dedicated to Francesco Valdisserri, a young road victim, son of Paola Di Caro and Luca Valdisserri, journalists from the Roman editorial office. And it is precisely to Francesco, along with two other young road victims, 17-year-old Valeria Mastrojeni and 23-year-old Eleonora Motta, that this new work by Alessio Ribaudo is dedicated. The new highway code, available for free in newsstands with Corriere della Sera on Wednesday, December 18, and in digital edition from Saturday, December 21, is supported by a multimedia campaign signed by Hi! Comunicazione, planned on RCS media and on-air on Radio Italia, Radio Popolare, and RDS.
