SIMONE BOIFAVA NEW PRESIDENT OF TEAM BIESSE-CARRERA

CONTINENTAL | 22/11/2024 | 12:49
News from Team Biesse Carrera, a thriving Brescia cycling reality that just a few weeks ago concluded a 2024 as a protagonist between the Continental formation and the entire male and female youth sector. The cycling association announces the appointment of Simone Boifava as president, a young Brescia entrepreneur (son of former professional and sports director Davide) already part of the company's sponsor "family".
"I am honored - in his words - by this new role that allows me to be involved even more directly in the management of Team Biesse Carrera, a reality I have been able to appreciate closely thanks to the role of technical sponsor with the supply of Carrera bicycles. Obviously for 2025 we will still be sponsors and suppliers of the team, through which we can test materials again in an even more rigorous way, putting them to the test in the most important races of the Italian and international calendar. The continuous feedback received from athletes has allowed us to raise the bar even further in terms of performance, so much so that with our top-of-the-range SL AIR PRO model we know we are second to none; certainly in terms of competitive quality we are at the top of the market".
Then he adds. "First of all, I feel I must express a heartfelt and sincere thanks to Bruno Bindoni, main sponsor with Bi&Esse Group, and to the board of Team Biesse Carrera for proposing and entrusting me with the honor of this new task and to all the sponsors who offer their valuable support to the team. Moreover, we will soon announce the entry of other major companies into the team's sponsor pool. Being president is certainly a source of responsibility and commitment, a stimulus to measure and compare myself in a new role leading a great team, but at the same time it is a pride to be so in an environment that is both very familiar and professional, which cares about the growth of young people not only in a strictly cycling sense. I gladly share the philosophy of gradual athlete growth, with great attention also to the human side, because on the saddle there are boys before being cyclists: I think we too often forget this in our sector. Carrera's history tells us that it has always believed in this, focusing on and enhancing many young talents. I think it was one of the first professional teams to have and directly manage its own youth sector in the Junior and Amateur categories since the 1980s, essentially anticipating by 40 years what World Tour formations are now doing with Devo teams".
"Previously - continues Simone Boifava - I allowed myself to define us as a "great team" because overall with the Biesse Carrera jersey we put about 80 athletes in the saddle, starting from the Youngest, through Beginners, Juniors and Youth with both female and male teams, up to the first team, the UCI Continental team, which in recent years has regularly positioned itself among the best teams in Italy. I think this company is a unique case in Italy and among the very few in the world to have a youth sector that covers all categories with a high-level outlet in the first team".
Finally, he concludes. "A thank you and good luck to all collaborators, sports directors, masseurs, mechanics, and accompanying staff who will support me in this new adventure and in particular to Renato Galli, team administrator and fundamental collaborator in management (where the commitment of accountant Simone Apollonio is also precious) without whose help I would not have been able to accept this role. A last special thanks goes to my father, Davide Boifava, for his precious advice and to my friend Gabriele Scalmana, who for years was my president in Gs Gavardo, a reference point for his exceptional human qualities: even today he offers me his help and support and will still be our honorary president. I hope that the great history of victories on a Carrera bike can continue and be repeated. I wish our boys and girls to become first and foremost good people in life thanks to this fantastic sport and that among them new Italian champions can emerge in the coming decades, seizing victories on a Carrera as Roche, Chiappucci, Pantani, Bartoli, Bettini, Garzelli, Basso, and many other champions have done before".
