
Sunday saw the sixty-first National Bicycle Day at Ghisallo: four youth races starting from four different locations all concluded on the hill a few pedal strokes from the Sanctuary and museum dear to all bicycle lovers.
The twentieth edition of Cesano Maderno - Ghisallo saw the success of Jolanda Sambi. Born in 2009, the Romagnol Junior from Calderara STM Riduttori achieved her fifth personal victory of the season at the end of the competition organized by the Cesano Maderno Cycling Society and dedicated to the Lorenzo Ganassin Memorial. After forty-two challenging kilometers where Juniors and Beginners raced shoulder to shoulder, Ginevra Sambi (a distant relative of the winner, ed.) took second place overall, while Viola Invernizzi from Team Serio finished third. National champion Aurora Cerame, eighth in the overall standings, gives yet another joy to the Cesano Maderno Cycling Society and celebrates victory among the 2012 Beginners.
In the Albese con Cassano Ghisallo, Giacomo Primavesi toasted to success. The Junior from Bustese Olonia arrived at the Sanctuary of the Madonna dear to cyclists with just a 2" advantage over Piedmontese Luca Gugnino from Vigor and Riccardo Longo from Biassono Sports Union. For Primavesi, this was his second seasonal success after the one in June in Taino, achieved at the conclusion of the 63 kilometers of the Frigerio - Brenna - Conti and Vailati Memorial organized by the G.S. Madonna del Ghisallo.
Bustese Olonia was also in the spotlight in the Lambrugo Ghisallo race for Beginners organized by Olimpic Lambrugo Lurago. The race, dedicated to the Giovanna Canali Memorial, saw the victory of Luca Ferro, who achieved his nineteenth seasonal victory, beating Nicolò Chiarello from Velo Club Cassano Magnago and Nicolò Casalicchio from Gabetti Ardens. Best young rider Fabio Pisarra from G.S. Prealpino.
The day concluded with the victory of Thomas Bernardi in the Olgiate Molgora - Ghisallo promoted by Polisportiva Aurora Brian Val from Olgiate Molgora. The Team Giorgi rider completed the 105-kilometer race, finishing first ahead of British rider Finn O'Brien (Zappi Racing) and Luca Morlino (Pool Cantù - GB Team).
