
The Women's World Tour 2018 will officially begin on Saturday, 3rd March
in Siena. The Strade Bianche Women Elite is going to test the qualities
of all the athletes who will take part along the 136 kms and the eight
"White roads" of the Women race.
The Team Alè - Cipollini arrives in Tuscany with already four victories
since the begin of the season (the double by Chloe Hosking in Australia,
the stage win by Marta Bastianelli at the Setmana Ciclista Valenciana
last saturday and Janneke Ensing at the GP Le Samyn des Dames in Belgium
last Tuesday) and one gained position in the UCI World Ranking.
The Team Manager Fortunato Lacquaniti, with the Sports Director Gulnara
Fatkullina, selected the following six athletes for the first Women's
World Tour race of the year: Marta Bastianelli, Anna Trevisi and Soraya
Paladin from Italy, Janneke Ensing and Karlijn Swinkels from the
Netherlands and Mayuko Hagiwara from Japan. The ladies and the full
staff will test the race route on Friday morning, with the surrounding
winter landscapes and the snow that fell in the last hours.
"We start the Women's World Tour with a lot of enthusiasm for the big
wins we obtained in the last two months. The most important results are
our goal." - declared Fortunato Lacquaniti.
