PROFESSIONISTI | 15/05/2013 | 00:56 Nel caotico sprint che ha concluso la terza tappa dell'Amgen Tour of California (Palmdale-Santa Clarita, 177 km) Peter Sagan ha conquistato il suo primo successo nell'edizione 2013 davanti a Matthews e Farrar. Dopo due giornate di fuoco il clima ha concesso una giornata di tregua. Il gruppo ne ha approfittato per rendere la tappa combattuta. La fuga di giornata è stata ripresa a 20 km dal traguardo grazie al grande lavoro della Cannondale Pro Cycling con Maciej Bodnar e Kristijan Koren. A quel punto l'arrivo in volata è sembrato scontato. Sagan è stato tenuto dai compagni nelle posizioni di testa per evitare guai. Poi Ted King e Guillaume Boivin hanno gestito il "traffico" della volata e messo il campione slovacco di esprimere tutta la sua potenza. "La squadra si è comportata benissimo" ha spiegato Sagan "perché la tappa, ma soprattutto l'arrivo, erano difficili da gestire. King e Boivin mi hanno aiutato a non rimanere chiuso nel caos dello sprint e protetto dal vento contrario. Dovevo partire più tardi possibile e la situazione migliore si è creata a 200 metri dalla linea. A quel punto ho fatto ciò che dovevo: spingere al massimo". Sagan ha dedicato la vittoria al compagno Mauo Da Dalto che ieri è stato costretto al ritiro a causa del caldo e ricoverato in ospedale (e dimesso in serata) per accertamenti. Con questo successo Sagan raggiunge la cifra record di 9 vittorie al Tour of California, mentre il computo stagionale arriva a quota 10. In classifica generale resta al comando il colombiano Acevedo.
