Jonas Abrahamsen is and will continue to be the franchise player of Uno-X Mobility in the future. After joining the Norwegian team's development squad in 2017 and making the leap to the professional ranks in 2020, the thirty-one-year-old from Skien has signed a contract extension with the Scandinavian outfit through 2030, effectively tying himself for life to the orange and red colors.
“It's incredibly fun to have started this journey when we were just about twenty people – mechanics, riders, sporting directors and assistants included. Now we're probably around 100. We've learned a lot from the many mistakes we've made. I've made some too, and each time I've learned a new lesson that allowed me to improve. It's really nice to be in an environment where you're allowed to make mistakes” Abrahamsen said, expressing his contentment with an agreement that will allow him to continue growing and working in a decidedly stimulating environment.
“I've grown a lot since I joined this team in 2017 and, perhaps, that's what matters most to me: being able to continue taking new steps forward. That's what motivates me most, along of course with the fantastic atmosphere you breathe among the riders, the staff and our entire group”.
By continuing to train in an ideal environment to discover and reveal to the world all of his potential, Abrahamsen hopes to play a key role in pursuing the new ambitious objectives that Uno-X has set for itself in the coming years.
“Now we're in the WorldTour and it's my intention to help the team become one of the top five teams in the top division. To achieve this we also need to recruit people and expertise – and that's exactly what we're doing at Uno-X” revealed the winner of the first stage at the Tour de France in the Nordic squad's history, a rider who continues to cultivate rather significant dreams for himself.
“I dream of winning a Monument, perhaps the Tour of Flanders or Paris-Roubaix. I'd first like to manage to finish in the top five and then get to work to try to achieve an even better result. Apart from that, I'd also like to be part of the team that will win a Grand Tour – preferably the Tour de France – in the future, which is perhaps the team's biggest dream. With hard work, everything is possible” concluded determinedly one of the most combative riders in the group.
