Put a champion in a Museum... and it's instantly a celebration! Claudio Chiappucci was welcomed by many cycling enthusiasts at the Alto Livenza Cycling Museum in Portobuffolè: El Diablo recounted for more than an hour anecdotes and memories of a champion whose achievements have remained in the hearts of countless cycling fans.

Chiappucci had donated to the Museum his Italian national team jersey and especially the polka dot jersey of best climber at the Tour de France, which he had won twice in 1991 and 1992. The "Diablo" finished second in the overall standings at the Tour in 1992, wearing the polka dot jersey of best climber on the Paris podium as well. It should be noted that Chiappucci won the mountain classification at the Giro d'Italia three times: in 1990, 1992, and 1993.

Valter De Martin explains how things went: "The two jerseys were already on display at the Alto Livenza Cycling Museum. The body suit arrived through Luciano Gasparotto more than a year ago from an event where the Diablo had attended in Verona. Instead, the polka dot jersey from the Tour de France arrived a month ago thanks to Massimo Ghirotto, his teammate at Carrera, to whom it had been given by Chiappucci himself. Massimo wanted to donate it to our Cycling Museum so it could be displayed, and now "El Diablo" has put his signature on that prestigious jersey".

At the meeting, representing the Municipality of Portobuffolè were Budget Assessor Lucio Rinaldo Bretagna and Valter De Martin, the Cycling Museum's representative, along with Bruno Silvestrin, president of the Portobuffolè Pro Loco.

Also present were Luciano Gasparotto, a true ambassador of cycling, and GianEnrico Zanardo, who gave Chiappucci two magnums of extra virgin olive oil Redoro Frantoi Veneti with the dedication "To the Most Combative Champion". One bottle remained with him and one, with his autographed dedication to Redoro and the Museum, will remain at the Museum and will be displayed alongside the many memorabilia that make the Alto Livenza Cycling Museum in Portobuffolè a true excellence.
